What can be more homemade than a patchwork bear who also has a patchwork quilt?  I love all things patchwork as it allows me to meticulously piece together bits and pieces of the very fabrics I love to work with.    Combining it with a charity that does important work for our Veterans who suffer from certain afflictions when they return home, makes this a winning combination for the maker, the buyer & the Veteran while honoring  my son's memory.
 
This particular bear is done in a blue theme with green, cream, tan, pink, bubblegum. slate blue, periwinkle, slate, sage, olive with smaller variations & shades throughout. Roses abound in various stages of opening from buds to bouquets.    This bear has been adorned with eyes, a nose and mouth.  All seams have been double stitched for strength & longevity over time.
 
The quilt is a complete patchwork item & lovingly stitched together piece by piece.  All the colors as above and more can be found in the quilt.  I then sandwiched it just as you would a traditional quilt.  I stitched in the seams & on the diagonol throughout.  The back is a high quality muslin done in white & the edges, are ragged.  
 
I've added a 1/4 cup of lavender into the hull mix inside the bear.  Bear is squishable and perfect for a cuddle from whomever may need it or display bear with the quilt for a cottage touch to your home or a special room.
